About

The scope of this project is to replace and renew critical portions of the existing steam distribution system. Much of these piping systems are more than 50 years old and need replacement. Failures have become more frequent due to the age of piping. Construction is envisioned to be sequenced to limit the overall disruption to the campus while sections of piping are replaced. This project will consist of two Phases. Phase 01 will focus on sections of the team system in Peabody Park near the Music Building and between Shaw Residence Hall through Walker Avenue to the area in front of Jackson Library. Phase 02 will target broader replacement along College Avenue.

The Board of Trustees approved RMF Engineering Inc. from Raleigh, NC as the Designer for this project on April 01, 2025.  as well as the selection of Balfour Beatty Construction, LLC as the Construction Manager at Risk on September 09, 2025.
