
Associate Vice Chancellor, Sameer Kapileshwari, P.E. is a licensed Professional Engineer leading the Facilities Organization. Along with his Professional Engineering License, he is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Facilities Management Professional, Certified Sustainability Facilities Professional and he holds an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Safety Certification and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified lighting surveyor.
Director of Facilities Operations, Jon Soter, P.E., M.B.A. is a licensed Professional Engineer currently leading the UNCG Facilities Operations department. Jon has over 40 years of experience in leadership, complex engineering, and driving organizational change. Jon is a volunteer Firefighter and EMT.


Director and University Architect, David Friedman, AIA, LEED AP BD+C is a licensed Professional Architect leading the Facilities Design & Construction (FDC) department. FDC is responsible for the overall planning, design, and construction management of both new and renovation capital improvement projects on campus. The team includes the Office of Space Utilization and Planning (OSM) and the GIS Unit.
Business Officer, Capital Improvement Administration, Sandra Redmond is responsible for working with both the UNC System Office and the Office of State Budget and Management in establishing Capital project budgets and requesting allotments. She also manages the budgets for all Repair and Renovation projects funded with Appropriated / State Capital and Infrastructure funds as well as 12 other funds for the AVC for Facilities.


Director of Environmental Health & Safety, Eric Zack, M.A. has 20 years of experience in university safety and compliance. The EHS Department is responsible for ensuring the safety of the UNCG community, related to workplace and environmental hazards.
HUB Program Coordinator, Nereida Sutton, is the coordinator for our HUB participation program. She works diligently to engage the selection of minority vendors on all projects. Not just Facilities projects, she works all across the campus including housing and residence life, campus enterprises and auxiliary services. Nereida advances HUB advocacy during both design and construction phases.
